Addressed from Cape Helles, Gallipoli Peninsula, 1st May [1915], written by Michael Hartigan of the Munster Fusiliers to his brother Dick, a Limerick businessman. 6 pages of closely written detail on the infamous Battle of Gallipoli. Information on reparations for, and ‘the terrible and needless massacre’ of the attacking British forces. Still in original envelope. A unique and evocative document of great historical interest described by an observant participant who died in 1918.
